A supporter of this site writes:

I had a letter recently from our friends at the TV Licensing, informing me that my company had recently purchased TV recording equipment from Computer Warehouse but they have no record of a license in the company name at the address in question.

Knowing that the company had purchased no such equipment, I immediately suspected credit card fraud and spent 2 hours checking for any financial transactions that could not be explained.

It transpires that all we purchased from Computer Warehouse was some music composition software (for corporate presentations) a graphics / drawing tablet for design purposes and a USB card reader. None of this of course can transmit or receive anything. On checking with the TV licensing, it transpires that they send such demands following the purchase of ANY electrical equipment if the purchase name does not correspond with the address on their database.

I'd better not buy the staff any popcorn - they will certainly suspect that we spend all day watching sky movies!

What I do find particularly annoying is that they make no allowance for a possible error in their information. All the options given are what I must do to put things right.

No doubt this will start a cycle of routine investigations / and threatening letters as has been the case with so many others contributing to your website.
